How Often Should Men Get a Haircut?
The honest answer is "it depends," but that's not very useful. So here's a practical guide to how often to get a haircut, based on the style you're keeping.
Tight fades and short sides: every 2–3 weeks
A skin fade or tight taper looks its best for about two weeks. After that the contrast softens and the clean edges grow out. If you want it to look as sharp as the day you got it, plan on a visit every two to three weeks, or a quick lineup in between full cuts.
Classic medium styles: every 4–5 weeks
Scissor cuts, side parts, and textured crops are more forgiving. They grow out gracefully, so four to five weeks is a comfortable rhythm for most guys keeping a versatile, medium-length style.
Longer hair: every 6–8 weeks
If you're growing it out or wearing it long, you're cutting to maintain shape and remove split ends rather than to hold a tight style. Every six to eight weeks keeps it healthy without losing length.
Beards run on their own clock
Beards usually need shaping more often than the hair on your head, every two to three weeks keeps the neckline and cheek lines intentional. Many guys pair a beard trim with their haircut to stay on one schedule.
